What is NPS?
Net Promoter Score is a loyalty measure from one question: how likely someone is to recommend you, on a scale from 0 to 10.
People who answer 9 or 10 are promoters. People who answer 7 or 8 are passives. People who answer 0 to 6 are detractors. The score is the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors.
How to use this calculator

Formula
Total responses = Promoters + Passives + Detractors
% Promoters = Promoters / Total × 100
% Detractors = Detractors / Total × 100
NPS = % Promoters − % Detractors
Example: 60 promoters, 30 passives, and 10 detractors. Promoters are 60% and detractors are 10%, so the score is 50. Passives change the total, which changes both percentages.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good NPS?
These ranges are guidance, not a universal benchmark. Below 0 means more detractors than promoters. 0 to 30 is a modest positive score. Above 30 to 70 is a strong score. Above 70 is uncommon. Compare a new score with your own earlier surveys.
What is the difference between promoters, passives, and detractors?
Promoters scored 9 or 10. Passives scored 7 or 8. Detractors scored 0 to 6. Passives count in the total number of responses, but they are not added to or subtracted from the score.
Can NPS be negative?
Yes. When the share of detractors is higher than the share of promoters, the score is negative. The possible range is -100 to +100.
