What is response rate?
Response rate is the percentage of people you invited who sent a response. It tells you how much of the invited group showed up, not how happy they were.
Response rate vs completion rate
Response rate = (Responses received / Invitations sent) × 100
Completion rate = (Completed responses / Started responses) × 100
A high response rate with a low completion rate means people opened the survey and left before the end.
How to improve rates
- Keep the survey short.
- Make it easy to finish on a phone.
- Say why you are asking and how long it takes.
- Send one reminder to people who have not answered.

What is a survey response rate?

Why can't responses be higher than invitations?
