Conditional Logic

Conditional logic is a set of rules that shows, hides, or changes form fields based on the answers a respondent has already given.

How conditional logic works

A conditional logic rule has two parts: a condition and an action. The condition checks an earlier answer, for example "Company size is more than 50". The action says what happens when the condition is true, for example "Show the field Procurement contact".

Many form builders let you join conditions with AND or OR. With AND, every condition must be true. With OR, one true condition is enough.

Example

A support form asks "Are you a current customer?". If the answer is Yes, the form shows an Account ID field. If the answer is No, the form shows a field that asks how the person heard about you. Each respondent sees only the questions that apply to them.

Why it matters

Fewer irrelevant questions make a form shorter for each person. You also collect cleaner data, because people do not type "N/A" into fields that do not apply to them.

Conditional logic in FormFlux

In the FormFlux builder, click a field and add a condition such as "Show this field if". You choose the trigger field and the value, and you can chain several conditions with AND or OR. In conversational mode, questions that a rule hides are skipped.
